What use is Braille?

Braille is the most private form of reading and writing system for a person who cannot see to read or write, or who may have fluctuating vision.?(Auditory systems of recording or listening are less private, but can be useful alternatives.)

Braille can be used in the same way print is used, whether it be in books, magazines, labels, lists, check records, menus, notes, telephone numbers, etc.

If you're only interested in writing shopping lists, keeping telephone numbers, or writing labels or brief notes, then you might find that Alphabetic Braille will be enough to meet your needs.?Alternatively, if you want to read novels, magazines or newspapers, then you will need to learn the more advanced Literary Braille.
