The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program [1] is an employment program for people with disabilities. The goal of the Ticket to Work Program is to increase opportunities and choices for Social Security disability beneficiaries to obtain employment, vocational rehabilitation, and other support services from public and private providers and employers. For more information about Ticket to Work, contact your local Social Security office [2] or call 1-800-772-1213.
The Job Accommodation Network [3] (JAN) is a free service provided by the Office of Disability Employment Policy [4] of the U.S. Department of Labor [5]. JAN provides a free consulting service designed to increase the employability of people with disabilities and links that assist with finding employment [6].
JAN's website explains what accommodations can be made in the workplace to help people with various disabilities and provides lists of manufacturers of vision accommodation products [7] in which the employee and employer may find useful products including computer screen-reading software, braille printers and notetakers, magnifiers, and talking products.
