Susan Kennedy grew up in Lancaster County, PA. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004 with a BS in Business Administration and Marketing
While an undergraduate, she experienced the first of many retinal detachments. She underwent multiple eye surgeries to preserve remaining vision.
After significant vision loss in 2011, she began rehabilitation to gain independence through occupational therapy, orientation and mobility therapy, and job counseling from Maryland's Department of Rehabilitation Services(DORS).
She resides in Maryland with her husband and is employed as a legal office assistant. When she isn't spending time with family and friends, she loves reading, writing, cooking, raising her welsh terriers, and fully experiencing life. In 2013, she launched her blog Adventures in Low Vision to share the challenges, empowerment, and humor of living with a visual impairment. In 2016, she was honored to join VisionAware as a peer advisor.
