Beckie Horter is a Christian blogger and a devotions editor for Proverbs 31 Ministries.
After graduating with a degree in English, Beckie worked at the local newspaper as a correspondent and proofreader until central vision loss caused her to resign and quit driving.
Her condition is called degenerative myopia. It is similar to Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) in that the central vision is affected while the peripheral vision remains intact. It is not age-related; however, it is related to the shape of the eyeball. Degenerative myopia is more severe than other forms of myopia and is associated with retina changes, potentially causing severe vision loss.
Following a period of adjustment, Beckie returned to writing and editing. She now writes for national magazines using adaptive equipment to enlarge text.
She also writes about her faith journey on her "This Abiding Walk" blog.
