Services Offered

Services for Adults

  • Braille/Electronic/Audio/Large Print Production
    • Scholastic, recreational.
  • Counseling
    • Offers peer counseling, buddy telephone system, and referral to community services.
  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Recruits, trains, and assigns volunteers to provide services, such as reading, clerical work, shopping, and friendly visits, for people who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Information and Referral
    • Provides information through mail, phone, e-mail, and publications.
  • Recreation Services
    • Refers for and provides consultation to other agencies on recreational/leisure services. Worcester and Springfield regional offices offer recreation and leisure programs.
  • Travel/Orientation and Mobility
    • Through the Vision Habilitative Services Department, provides orientation and mobility and low vision services for adults with mental retardation and vision loss who live in the Metro Region of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation who are referred by a DMR Service Coordinator.
