Brief Description

Jewish Guild Healthcare (formerly the Jewish Guild for the Blind) is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian agency that serves persons of all ages who are visually impaired, blind and multi-disabled. The Guild offers a broad range of programs that include medical, vision, low vision rehabilitation, psychiatric and rehabilitative services, managed long-term care, adult day health care programs, a school, and educational training programs for independent living. We also offer training to care providers and professionals who interact with persons with vision loss, as well as a tele-support program nationally to the parents of children with vision impairment.

Services for Adults

  • Computer Training/Assistive Technology
    • Offers computer training at the Adaptive Technology Center.
  • Counseling
    • Has a licensed mental health clinic in addition to vocational and educational counseling.
  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Offers services and programs providing rehabilitation, activities of daily living, adaptive physical education, counseling and vocational assessment.
  • Low Vision Services
    • Provides evaluation and treatment. Provides special optical devices, such as extra-strength lenses, hand-held magnifiers and small telescopes.
  • Services for Seniors
    • The Guild provides an Adult Day Health Care program called GuildCare, in Albany, Buffalo, Manhattan, Niagara Falls, and Yonkers. The Guild also provides GuildNet, a Managed Long-Term-Care plan, which provides an extensive array of Medicaid-covered services for seniors eligibile for nursing home placement but who wish to remain in their own homes. The Guild also offers the Guild Institute for Vision and Aging, at Jewish Home Lifecare in the Bronx.
  • Travel/Orientation and Mobility
    • Provides orientation and mobility training.
