Confident Living Program

The Confident Living Program (CLP) is a five-day structured learning experience provided in a peer support group setting. It is designed to provide information, resources, and an introduction to skills necessary to maintain an independent life. The on-campus CLP lasts for 5 days while the On-the-Road CLP lasts 2.5 days. All Seniors, 55 and better who have both vision and hearing loss are eligible to attend. Program Managers, as well, have an opportunity to attend to experience and develop a greater understanding of the abilities and needs of senior adults. If you are interested in more information or in sponsoring a CLP program for your state, please feel free to contact Mark or an HKNC Regional Representative.

OnLine Course "Touch Signals"

HKNC is offering an exciting new online course entitled "Touch Signals: Using Touch to Convey Visual and Environmental Information to People who are Deaf-Blind." It provides an introductory level of training in touch signals focusing on the fundamentals. Based on Haptic Communication, "Touch signals" is a method of providing visual and environmental information to an individual who is deaf-blind discreetly and in real-time. This information allows a person to make informed choices and decisions based on a more complete picture of their situation. Contact Mark Armstrong or a HKNC Regional Representative for additional information. Please feel free to share this information with both colleagues, clients, and others in your organization.
