Date Posted: 08/29/2014

The Concordia Learning Center at St. Joseph's School for the Blind recently named David Feinhals as its new executive director. Mr. Feinhals suceeded former executive director Judy Ortman, who announced her retirement after eight years at the helm of the school by saying, "My decision to retire was not an easy one; however I am confident David Feinhals will proactively and effectively lead Concordia into the future." A New Jersey native, Mr. Feinhals earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and pursued a master's degree in special education from Hunter College. Since 2001, he has worked with individuals who are blind or visually impaired in the areas of assistive technology, braille, optical devices, and independent living skills. Prior to accepting the position at Condordia, Mr. Feinhals was the executive and program director for the New Jersey Foundation for the Blind in Denville, a position he held since 2011. "It is an absolute honor to have the opportunity to lead an organization with such a long, rich history of helping individuals who are blind and multiply disabled," said Mr. Feinhals.
