Home Repairs Safety Checklist
Although you might have had years of experience with home repairs, we recommend you follow a safety checklist that includes the following:
- Depending on the type of job you plan to do, be sure you have turned off the appropriate utility.? For example, if you are attempting a water related repair, turn off the water before your begin. If you are attempting an electrical repair, turn off the main power.
- If you're going to use a use a drill or saw, etc. you will need to use eye protection.? With some jobs, you may also need to use ear protection.
- Collect everything you plan to use in one place before you begin the task.? In order to keep things close together you might want to place everything on a large tray, or cardbox box, lined up in the order you need to use them
- Ask yourself whether you need a wastebasket, water, paper towels, tape or other incidentals that will help you complete the project.
- Finally, if the repair is large or complicated it's usually best to ask for professional help. ?And while the professional worker is with you, it might be an opportunity to learn a little more.
